Plot Summary : The double standard also subtly creeps in the audience’s mind. For example, without taking offense (I’m a woman and all that), I started making character judgments about the women. Though they were smart and thought on their feet, they were ace-class calculative. Only suddenly, Ruchi (Shahana Goswami) remarks that the stories are pro-women. And it struck me, all the men in the film were equally manipulative. Only their scheming doesn’t come into the fore because …because of what? Stereotypes about men allow them to be devious? Lead ladies are hardly ever portrayed as conspiring in films, unless they are vamps?
That’s how slyly the film makes you think. The characters argue amongst themselves on our behalf. They shhusssh possible criticism by bringing up objections against the four shorts themselves. The others make counter-arguments. Usually, I get annoyed when films do that. Justify its faults by saying them out loud. But, it slid by here. Mainly because of the content of the shorts. And they had to do something to connect the four dots, right?

Protagonist Vic (Bobby Deol) is a successful horror film director in Bollywood and is married to Pia (Mugdha Godse). As the darkness spreads, things start to get worse and the spirit tries to annihilate everything and everyone that comes in its way.
Now Vic must race against time to save his pregnant wife, who seems to be possessed by the spirit of her twin sister Dia who died when they were both 5 years old. With the help of a renowned parapsychologist, Dr. Aditya Motwani, Vic has only 36 hours to discover the dark and terrifying truth behind Pia’s family history of murderous madness and break the curse that has been put on them by a third mysterious other. This film takes a serious look at the lives of Westernized Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) in North America. Whereas Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge was about NRIs with Indian hearts, Pardes is about Westernized NRIs.) and hence the meaning of the title – “foreign land”. Kishorilal is a successful businessman settled in America but still emotionally attached to his motherland – India. So the pardesi comes to India with his “American” son Rajiv to find a suitable ‘”Indian” girl for him. Kishorilal hopes his soon-to-be bahu will instill some Indian values in his extremely westernized beta. He finds his bahu in Kusum Ganga (a pet Subhash Ghai name just as Chandni was Yash Chopra’s favorite for a long time) in the house of his childhood friend Suraj Dev. Mahima Chaudhary makes her debut as Ganga. To finalize the marriage he sends his son along with his foster son Arjun to India. Arjun plays Cupid and returns to America with Kusum and Rajiv. Arjun comes into the movie to get the American-boy to accept Indian values, and support the Indian-girl to accept American vices. The reverse does not fit into this movie. Arjun is portrayed as an Indian at heart and the hero of the film! All is hunky-dory till the true Bharatiya Nari finds out that her future husband is not a teetotaler. So, the heartbroken Kusum returns to India. Don’t conclude that it is the end of the Bollywood fairy tale. It is just the beginning as Arjun falls in love with his would-have-been bhabi while playing Cupid and leads to a love triangle.

Three : Love, Lies, Betrayal

Agar adil, ada beberapa tikungan yang membawa Anda terkejut, tapi tetap diprediksi plot secara keseluruhan. Dan ada beberapa penyimpangan dalam plot yang tidak bisa diabaikan. Suami dan istri memiliki perjuangan jelek dan kemudian di adegan berikutnya mereka bertingkah seakan-akan perahu nelayan keren semuanya. Dialog yang memalukan kekanak-kanakan pada waktu – terutama yang memiliki sajak TK.
Untuk rupa film ini diselamatkan oleh penampilan para pemain. Nausheen adalah karatan di tempat tapi menunjukkan bunga api yang baik bertindak di babak kedua. Akshay Kapoor tampak meyakinkan memainkan bajingan hidup pada uang istri dan juga memukulinya. Ashish Chowdhary menyelinap ke karakter dengan baik, termasuk transformasi dalam gulungan terakhir.
‘Three – Love, Lies & Betrayal’ hampir tidak menawarkan sesuatu yang baru atau hati. Ini adalah rata-rata thriller Pembunuhan la tapi tanpa keuletan sirene. Yang, pada kenyataannya, dapat downer.

To an extent the film is saved by performances by the cast. Nausheen is rusty at places but shows sparks of good acting in the second half. Akshay Kapoor looks convincing playing a scumbag surviving on wife’s money and also beating her. Ashish Chowdhary slips into his character well, including his transformation in the latter reels.
‘Three – Love, Lies & Betrayal’ hardly offers anything novel or breathtaking. It’s an average thriller a la Murder but without the oomph of a siren. Which, in fact, could be a downer.
